The quest for seamless data exchange across borders has long been a thorn in the side of global industries and governments. In an effort to bridge this gap, researchers have been working tirelessly to develop innovative solutions that can facilitate trustworthy data sharing between different countries and regions.
A recent paper sheds light on the challenges and opportunities surrounding data spaces, which are essentially virtual platforms designed to enable secure and interoperable data exchange. The authors examined two prominent data space platforms, DATA-EX from Japan and Catena-X from Europe, to identify areas where they can collaborate more effectively.

The researchers believe that private trust initiatives can play a crucial role in bridging the gap between different data space platforms. By developing innovative solutions that can facilitate trustworthy data sharing, private companies can help pave the way for international cooperation.
In addition to these findings, the paper explores the concept of data trustees, which are entities responsible for overseeing data exchange and ensuring its integrity. The authors suggest that data trustees could be used to facilitate seamless data sharing between different platforms, but this would require a significant level of trust and cooperation across borders.
Overall, the study demonstrates the importance of international collaboration in developing robust data spaces that can enable secure and trustworthy data exchange.
