A new tool has been developed to help researchers in the field of immersive learning create more accurate and consistent case studies. The Immersive Learning Case Sheet (ILCS) is a methodological instrument that provides a structured approach to documenting and analyzing immersive learning cases.
The ILCS is designed to address the challenges of inconsistent reporting and varying levels of detail in current case studies. It does this by providing a framework for researchers to follow, which includes categories such as practices, strategies, and proximal uses. This framework helps researchers to ensure that they are including all relevant information in their case studies, and that they are presenting it in a consistent and clear manner.
One of the key benefits of the ILCS is its ability to facilitate collaboration among researchers. By providing a standardized approach to documenting and analyzing immersive learning cases, the ILCS allows researchers from different backgrounds and disciplines to work together more effectively. This can lead to a more comprehensive understanding of the field of immersive learning, as well as the development of new and innovative approaches.
The ILCS has been tested in several case studies, including one on ancient Greek technology in virtual reality. In this study, the ILCS was used to create a detailed and structured description of the learning experience, which included information on the practices and strategies used, as well as the proximal uses of the technology. The results of the study showed that the ILCS was effective in facilitating the creation of accurate and consistent case studies.
The development of the ILCS is an important step forward in the field of immersive learning. By providing a standardized approach to documenting and analyzing case studies, it will help researchers to work more effectively together and to develop new and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
