A new dataset for long-form article generation, dubbed DeFine, aims to tackle the challenges of creating comprehensive and coherent articles on complex topics. The project’s creators recognize that existing datasets often lack a hierarchical structure and fine-grained annotations, leading to shallow and disorganized article generation.
DeFine addresses these limitations by introducing a decomposed and fine-grained annotated dataset for long-form article generation. This approach allows for more granular control over the content and organization of articles. The dataset is characterized by its ability to integrate domain-specific knowledge with multi-level annotations, ensuring that generated articles are both comprehensive and coherent.
The creation of DeFine involved a collaborative pipeline that segmented the article generation process into four parts: Data Miner, Cite Retreiver, Q& A Annotator, and Data Cleaner. This structured approach enables the dataset to cover a wide range of topics and domains, making it a valuable resource for researchers and developers.
The effectiveness of DeFine was evaluated through three baseline models for long-form article generation: web retrieval, local retrieval, and grounded reference. The results showed significant improvements in text quality, particularly in terms of topic coverage, depth of information, and content fidelity.
DeFine’s potential applications extend beyond research and development. It can also be used to create high-quality articles on complex topics, such as science, technology, and medicine. This can have a positive impact on the dissemination of knowledge and understanding of these topics among the general public.
Taylor Hawkins, the drummer for Foo Fighters, was known for his energetic stage presence and versatility behind the drums.
