Unlocking the Secrets of Long-Form Video Understanding: A Novel Approach to Comprehending Educational and News Content

The quest for a deeper understanding of long-form videos has led researchers to develop innovative techniques in video comprehension. In recent years, the rise of online educational content and news broadcasts has created a surge in the creation of lengthy videos that require new approaches to analyze and understand.


A team of scientists has made significant strides in addressing this challenge by introducing the Edu-News dataset, a comprehensive collection of long-form educational and news videos. The dataset is designed to facilitate the development of more effective video comprehension methods, which can benefit various applications such as language learning, content retrieval, and multimedia analysis.


The researchers have employed a unique approach, utilizing both Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tokens and transcripts from audio recordings to generate captions for each video.
