Unlocking the Secrets of Cosmic Rays with the CONDOR Observatory

High above the Andes, in a remote corner of Chile, scientists are building an ambitious new observatory that will revolutionize our understanding of the universe. The CONDOR Observatory is designed to detect high-energy particles and gamma rays from distant sources, providing a unique window into the most energetic events in the cosmos.


Located at an altitude of 5,200 meters above sea level, CONDOR will be the highest-altitude observatory of its kind, taking advantage of the thin atmosphere to capture more precise data than its lower-lying counterparts. The CONDOR team has already partnered with scientists from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory at the South Pole and the High-Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) observatory in Mexico, paving the way for a global network of cosmic ray detectors.
