In the meantime, researchers are working on developing new technologies that can help mitigate the effects of social media polarization and weaponization. These include AI-powered tools that can detect and counter hate speech, as well as platforms that promote constructive dialogue and debate.
Ultimately, the future of peacebuilding in Ethiopia depends on the ability to harness the power of digital technologies for good. By promoting inclusive and participatory approaches, and by addressing the systemic issues that have led to the current crisis, researchers believe that a more peaceful and harmonious society can be achieved.
