Efficient Worker Recruitment System for Mobile Crowdsourcing Tasks

Researchers have developed a new system that can effectively recruit workers for mobile crowdsourcing tasks, increasing the chances of completing tasks efficiently and accurately. Mobile crowdsourcing is a process where individuals are asked to perform specific tasks using their smartphones or other devices.


The system, called Influence- and Interest-based Worker Recruitment (IIWRS), uses online social networks to identify influential users who can advertise about desired tasks to their connections. This approach helps in reaching out to a targeted group of people with the right skills and interests for the task at hand.


One of the main challenges in mobile crowdsourcing is recruiting workers who are willing to perform tasks. Many times, workers may not be interested in completing tasks or may not have the necessary skills. IIWRS addresses this issue by using social influence and interest-based recruitment.


The system works by analyzing a user’s online behavior, interests, and connections on social media platforms. It identifies users with high social influence and relevance to the task requirements. These influential users are then selected to advertise about the tasks to their followers, increasing the chances of attracting qualified workers.


In addition, IIWRS considers the social attributes of potential workers, such as their reputation, skill level, and availability. This information helps in selecting the most suitable workers for each task, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.


The system also includes a dynamic worker recruitment process, which allows it to adapt to changing circumstances. For example, if a worker is unable or unwilling to complete a task, IIWRS can substitute them with another qualified candidate.


Researchers tested IIWRS using real-life datasets and compared its performance with existing systems. The results showed that IIWRS significantly outperformed other systems in terms of the quality of recruited workers and the efficiency of task completion.


The development of IIWRS has several implications for mobile crowdsourcing. It can help increase the effectiveness and accuracy of task completion, reducing costs and increasing productivity.
